For the Redmonds, it’s an unstable time in American history. Theirchallenges include raising five adopted children in a world that has been transformed. New foes arise in the guise of the Ku Klux Klan, which seeks to wreak havoc with the Negro population with escalating threats and violence. Charlie and Rebecca are determined to help Culpeper return to prosperity, but theft, harassment, and murder are just some of the roadblocks that are hindering the progress.
