It’s a time of upheaval following the end of the Civil War inCulpeper, Virginia. The town is under military rule, but Retired General Charlie Redmond, with the help of his wife Rebecca, has a plan to transform Culpeper back to its pre-war prosperity. For the Redmonds, it’s an unstable time in American history. Theirchallenges include raising five adopted children in a world that has been transformed. New foes arise in the guise of the Ku Klux Klan, which seeks to wreak havoc with the Negro population with escalating threats and violence.
